Naturally, there are some basic differences between Bangladeshi and Western music. The differences are very much distinct. In fact, each and every country has her own culture. This can't be removed by the culture of another country. It is proved when we analyse various aspects of Bangladeshi and Western music. In theme and melody, our songs are pole apart from Western music. They include especially the Nazrul Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet and traditional folk songs. They are very much graceful and refined. But the Western music is very much vulgar. Musical instruments are used more in this music. On the other hand, in our songs, melodious and musical instruments are less used. The Western singers use metalic sound whereas we don't. Individual love is the theme of Western music. It is only the love of the lovers. On the contrary, the theme of our songs is also love. But it is quite different from the Western music. In our songs, love is for the lovers, parents, our motherland and last of all for the Almighty. The Western song has hardly any appeal. In contrast, our song has a great appeal and touches our heart. In a word, a country can't sacrifice her own identity and culture with another country. The cultural differences were in the past, have been in the present and will be in the future.
